It was announced back in October, that the longest-running publication in the world, Playboy would no longer be a full-frontal entertainment publication (See: Playboy Declears No More Nudes). Changing with the times, Playboy produces it farewell to nude issue this month and enlist long-time Playboy supermodel Pamela Anderson as the issue’s final nude covermodel.
Pamela is set to grace the January/February 2016 cover. On the cover, the blonde bombshell wears nothing but a gold “SEX” choker while grinning and giving a come-hither look to the camera. Shot by Playboy’s Ellen Von Unwerth, throughout the spread, the 48 year-old best known for her role in iconic television series Baywatch posed in various racy adult-themed suggested poses. During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Pamela expressed her excitement about posing nude a final time with popular photographer. “I took off all my clothes, and I rolled down the hill as fast as I can,” she told “ET.” “I was just screaming, and hair and boobs were flying, and shoes were going everywhere, and they and Ellen [Von Unwerth] shot it.” She continued describing the photoshoot, “The photographer shot me in one roll of film because I was nervous and throwing up. But then I saw the pictures, and from there it was hard to keep my clothes on! I was painfully shy before, but then it clicked in my head that nobody cares what you look like naked except you.”
Pamela revealed that Playboy founder, Hugh Hefner called Pamela himself to request she grace the final nude edition. Pamela reveals, “I got a call from [magazine founder Hugh Hefner’s] attorney who said, ‘We don’t want anybody else. There’s nobody else, could you do the last cover of Playboy?”
Pamela also revealed during the interview that it was her oldest son who encouraged her to do the final cover. She recalls, “I said, ‘Hef just called, he wants me to do the last cover of Playboy,’ and he goes, ‘Mom you’ve got to do it.” Her son Brandon assured his mother she has her children’s full support with a mature response. “We’re older, we’re not embarrassed anymore of you. You know, we think you’re great.”
Pamela and Playboy’s relationship date back 15 years and counting. First appearing on the American cover of Playboy in October 1989, Pamela holds the record for the model with the most Playboy cover appearances as she has made the cover 14 times in her career. Before appearing for a 15th time, the Next Model last graced the cover January 2011. On December 3rd, Playboy released a promotional trailer starring Pamela Anderson shown below:
Pamela was originally discovered back in 1989 in Vancouver. One years later, Pamela relocated to Los Angeles, California and was Playboy’s Playmate of the Month after appearing on her debut cover in 1989. 26 year-long career, Pamela is still one of the most-sought after models in the business. Anderson has recently signed a new modeling deal with Next Models at the top of 2015.
