First established in 1963, every year the prestige Hollywood Foreign Press Association select a honourees assist in the Association’s annual Golden Globe Awards presentations titled as the Miss Golden Globe. The latest selection in the 53 year long tradition is well-known Los Angeles model Corinne Foxx. Foxx is the latest model addition of honourees including former beauty queen Greer Grammer and IMG’s Dakota Johnson. The HFPA made an official announcement of Foxx as the 2016 selection during the Instyle, Elle magazine-sponsored event in Hollywood mid-Novemeber.
The 22 year-old made the announcement of being elected as the 2016 Miss Golden Globe via instagram, following the post with a statement of knowing about the honor for several weeks previously.
“I’ve known for about 3 weeks. Maybe like a month and I was so excited,” Foxx told PEOPLE. “I had all of this energy and I’m not lying, for an hour straight, just jumped around my house and was bouncing off the walls, and was Googling all of this stuff about Miss Golden Globes so I was really excited.”
The annual title is traditionally given to the daughter or son of a celebrity, and their responsibility is to assist in handing out the awards on the big night. Foxx is the oldest daughter of Golden Globe-winning actor Jamie Foxx (Ray, Django Unchained). During the Miss Golden Globe event, HFPA president was on hand to comment on the recent selection.
“Like her father, [Corinne] leads a fine example of following her dreams and we can’t wait to see what she does next,” said Lorenzo Soria, president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
Before signing with an agency, Corinne’s resume included solely a cover photoshoot with American Cheerleader magazine in December 2011. Foxx signed with L.A. Models back in October 2014 under her birth name Corinne Bishop. Shortly after signing with the popular agency, Corinne adopted the same surname; Foxx, like her movie star father. Since signing, Foxx’s most notable casting includes spokesmodel of cross branding February 2015 campaign between River Island and Rollacoster magazine.
